Robotics Program

Home > Robotics Program

All robotics sessions will start on January 18 from 2020 at 1:00 pm for toddlers and 9:00 am, 11:00 am and 3:15 pm for elementary and high school children.

Register today, only 20 spots are available.

Jr. Robotics

This class uses LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 Core Set, which includes bricks, sensors and motors. It offers endless possibilities for making abstract concepts concrete by using tangible elements students can manipulate with their hands. Designed with collaboration in mind, each core set supports two students, introducing them to science, computational thinking, and engineering principles in a fun and engaging way. During each project/session the children are challenged to create, to explore and to share.

During the design phase they learn how to:

  • Use mathematics and computational thinking
  • Plants and Pollinators project
  • Plan and carry
  • Robust structures project
  • Analyse and interpret data
  • Speed project

During the exploring phase they are giving the opportunity to ask questions, to define problems, to develop and use models.

Finally they will also have a chance to share with their classmates the way they managed to construct their models, to explain their findings and to communicate information.

Senior Robotics Genius EV3 Mindstorms and EZ Robot

We also offer a more advanced class for high school children using Lego Ev3 and EZ Robot to keep our high school students challenged.

Ev3 Mindstorms is a hands-on, cross-curricular STEM solution that engages students by providing the resources to design, build and program their creations while helping them develop essential 21st-century skills such as creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. They will learn how to:

  • Design, build, and program a Computer Numerical Control machine that draws a pattern, performs the task accurately, and repeats the task similar to the ones used in manufactures. Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines use pre-programmed instructions to control a tool along one or more axes with high precision. They are commonly used in computer-integrated manufacturing to turn a digital design on a computer into a physical object.
  • Build a factory conveyor which is a robotic system that relies on at least one motor and one sensor to move a ball on a path that includes a 90-degree turn.
  • and more…

Students will be able to use python to program their Ev3 Mindstorms models.

EZ Robots

  • Robot Assembly – Building the EZ-Robots
  • Servo Care and Programming
  • Creating a Robotics Log
  • Servo Geometry
  • Movement and Speed – Programming the EZ-Robot to move
  • Robotics and Sound – Programming the Robot to talk and play music
  • Sensors – Exploring the Five Senses and how they relate to Robotics
  • Exploration about Real-World Robotic Applications
  • Binary Code
  • Robot Vision – How Robots see and recognize their Surroundings compared to people
  • Programming Visual Recognition of Colors, Glyphs, Objects and People
  • Programming the robot to differentiate between objects / people
  • Using Variables when programming
  •  How Good are robots at multi-tasking
  • On Track – Using servos to track colors
  •  Movement Tracking
  •  Object Tracking
  • Visual communication and robotics
  • Programming a LED Array (the Humanoids Eyes)
  • Cloud Formations (saving to the cloud)
  • Programming the Phone/Tablet to Control the EZ-Robot

Coming Fall 2020, in addition to the weekly classes, our students will be able to participate in competition such as FIRST ROBOTICS CANADA which is the highest level of robotics competition offered by FIRST. High-school students team up with the world’s best technology companies to build the most impressive robots you’ve ever seen.

During the FIRST ROBOTICS CANADA contest, the students will get to:

  • Qualify for over $81 million USD in college scholarships
  • Learn from professional engineers
  • Build and compete with a robot of their own design
  • Learn and use sophisticated software and hardware
  • Compete and cooperate in alliances and tournaments
  • Earn a place in the World Championship
